RDI Launches State of the Basin

The RDI team is pleased to launch State of the Basin 2013!  In an effort to provide a picture of well-being at a given moment in time, RDI researchers in consultation with key stakeholders and experts have produced a graphic-based State of the Basin Snap Shot report, detailed State of the Basin Long report that explores economic, social, cultural and environmental conditions and trends, and a Percpetions of Well-Being that reports on a series of perceptual indicators.   The goal is to benchmark and increase our collective understanding of well being in the region and to promote discussion on where we are at and where we might want to go.   Residents are also encouraged to view the recently produced video that features lessons learned from the State of the Basin Rossland Indicators Project.  Read more.

Upgraded Website to Accommodate Expanding Content

“We have reached a critical time at the RDI.  After months of research and development work we had more content than our website could handle.  This new website not only accommodates new content and knowledge products, its look and feel has also been refreshed with new images and quotes from key stakeholders,” says Dr. MacDonald, Selkirk College’s Regional Innovation Chair at the Columbia Basin RDI.  Read more.

Community Profiles Released

Community profiles for each of the 28 municipalities in the Basin Boundary region are also posted on the updated website.  The profiles include statistical data, including data from the 2011 Census and other Statistics Canada products.  The purpose of the profiles is to provide current statistical data on each community that can be used to support community planning efforts and provide organizations with statistical data required for grant writing and reporting. Communities are encouraged to review their profiles and contact the RDI with any additions or edits.  Read more.

State of the Basin 2013 Launched at the 2013 CBT Symposium

The RDI research team launched State of the Basin 2013 in October during the CBT Symposium.  The launch included a presentation by RDI Researcher, Jonathan Buttle and a trade show table supported by members of the RDI research team and Selkirk Geospatial Research Centre research team.

"This was an excellent opportunity for us to showcase and gather feedback not only on the 2013 State of the Basin release, but also to expose symposium attendees to our developing portfolio of knowledge products including the soon to be released Digital Basin portal." says Dr. MacDonald of the RDI.  Click here to learn more about the CBT Symposium.
