The Village of Radium Hot Springs (incorporated December 10, 1990) with a population of 775, though the total population of the Columbia Valley (including Canal Flats, Invermere, Radium Hot Springs, and Regional District of East Kootenay Areas F and G) totals 8,490. Radium’s village council has made a commitment to making Radium a ‘walking town’ keeping all amenities, paths and trails in close proximity. Radium village boasts a resident herd of 150 Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep that can be found grazing in and around the village in the spring and fall. During rutting season in early November, Head Banger Tours provide a front row seat watching Rams in opposing head butting dominance and the privilege of mating with ewes. Located in the Purcell Mountains Radium Hot Springs is the gateway to Kootenay National Park.
